Users seeing email addresses

Post by rj »

Up only a day and already I am getting complaints that STANDARD EDITOR users can see each others email addresses.
I cant seem to find anyway to change that.
Any ideas?

But hey, I got it up and its working and I am a happy camper! :)

Something in the back of my memory tells me that this is only possible if you also disable their ability to see other users in the same group. Simply select the option in the manage groups menu. If I'm wrong I apologise for sending you up the proverbial garden path.

I cant seem to find anything in MANAGE GROUPS that says anything about viewing other users. I have no catagories...
I would like for users to not see other users in there.

And while I got ya here... When I do make a change in MANAGE GROUPS and SAVE, does it change the options of users, or only affect what NEW USERS come after?

Another dumb problem I am having is it seems no matter what I do, the PUBLISH COMMENTS box is checked YES for new STANDARD USERS. I have to manually change that.
The ENTRIES box is not problem though.

Keep in mind this is a political blog and as such, nasties want to come in and screw it up. Heck, I already got two new users whose email address ends in @alt.2600 :)

One last matter concerning this. Can I use MAILTO OBFUSCATOR in my email address through Serendipity? You know, a code replacement to fight spam... Works well on the website...

The changes to management occur immediately. However, the publishing rights for comments and entries are assigned to individual users, not to groups, so you have to change it for each user.

I'll take a look at the comments question when I get access to the code.

When you go to Manage Groups and select a single group, you should see a list of checkboxes. Find "adminUsers:" and uncheck all the boxes in that group. I believe that will keep standard users from seeing each other's email addresses.

Finally, is "MAILTO OBSFUCATOR" a particular script, or are you just looking for some way to obsfucate email addresses in the Serendipity output? It's likely that could be done with the regexp plugin or some Smarty manipulation.
