That's okay - should be pretty easy if you have access to phpMyAdmin.

On your serendipity_authors table, you can view your username. If it's your password that doesn't match, you can reset it by using the MD5 dropdown.

If phpMyAdmin is not an option, you may have to reinstall. :/

Hrmm...when you installed s9y, did you set it to install in the database that you can access?

Are you able to access your installation via FTP? If so look at the file serendipity_config_local.inc.php and that will tell you which database your installation is being stored.

If you do not have FTP access - is your installation a one-click install offered by your host?

i looked at that file already via ftp to see if i could alter the code directly.
didnt notice the name of the dbase - did notice the userid/pass wasnt hidden in the page code.

ill look at that in the am and see if its listed. i cant remember the name of the dbase i created for serendipity... id know if i could see my admin UI tho! :-\

thx for your help.

I might be off-base here but considering you're new to these forums and you don't seem to be using Serendipity on your site journal, I'll make a bold assumption that your Serendipity blog is also new.

If this is the case, did you in fact change the default username and password when you installed serendipity? If not, then try username = "John Doe", password = "john"

If I'm off-base I apologise,

Carl

yes carl, i did change it to a custom login.
and i logged in several times using it...
but what i logged in with just suddenly stopped working.

well heck, cant hurt to try lemme see... maybe it defaulted...

[edit: nah, thats not it. im guessing i accidentally was trying to change the login/pass to something i could give out to contributors, and when i didnt think it applied, it applied  ]

ok, you mentioned above that you have phpmyadmin access, so could you open that up again, and at the top of the left hand column is a drop down box with a list of all databases. The database for your Serendipity should be there, could you check again? You're looking for an entry that has about 25-30 tables (shown in brackets after the table name).

Yeah, this is a mess actually.
The database that I set up for serendipity doesn’t even show up in phpMyAdmin.
So, I cant edit tables that aren’t there.

it has something to do with the database owners / config.

pet peeve : i hate when people do work for you and set userids and passwords to their specs and not yours!!!

thx for your help. ill be back once i get the dbases and logins sorted out.
