HTML Nuggets

Post by rj »

I moved this question into an appropriate heading, as I believe this is something important to beginners.

I dont think I understand what this plugin is suppose to do.

It adds text to the sidebars very well! :)

What I would like it to do is hide the html code and present the title of that code. And I cant seem to do that.

This applies -scr- images and -mailto- but let me use a link as an example.

This is what I wish to present as a linkable item:

LINK TO MY SITE

What shows in the sidebar is this:

<a href="http://mysite.com">LINK TO MY SITE</a>

Can I hide the code?
Is that what this plug in is for?
Or is it just for placing text?
I dont understand.
Whats the markup button actually do?
Is it related to this?

If I could hide the code, this plugin would be a real nugget! :)
Ya know, wow. Could put anything in the sidbars, graphics, ads, graphical links, contact button... et al... Without dealing with code.

But if it isnt meant to do this shouldnt it be called
JUST A CRUMMY ADD TEXT NUGGET? :)

Hi!

It looks to me as if you have the WYSIWYG editor enabled. You need to click on the "<>" button to enter your own HTML code; else the WYSIWYG editor thinks you want to make HTML code seeable. :)

Or you turn of WYSIWYG editing, if you don't want that at all. :)

Best regards,
Garvin

Had to laugh like hell... :)
So simple... And so important! It opens up the side bars to just about everything you may want to do without messing with code.
As I keep saying, its the WHERE of things that bends the brain in all this.

One thing I noticed as a beginner (other than the WHERE of it) is that the first thing we want to do is personalize how the lookst and apply our own info to the header. And as I have now progressed to up and running, that was the hardest part of it. Which is the first thing we try to do. :)

My advice to beginners is to just pick a theme and leave it alone. Work the main window and plugins until you get the hang of things. And then when you have become a bit more profiecent tackle the appearance
And remember style.css is the key! :)
Just acclimate to that one page of code and things will come together.

And thanx Gavin for all the FAST help.
Makes one want to help you push this thing around.
