Static page as front page problem

Hi there people, s9y virgin newbie here, fresh over from WP...

Having a bit of a problem with setting a static page as a frontpage and not quite sure what I am doing wrong (also never used smarty...)

I installed the static page module.

Wrote a page (an article), and selected set as Frontpage.

Didnt work. A link to the page shows up in the sidebar, but my normal posts still occupy the homepage.

Well thats as about as far as it got, I followed and read the guidelines, like making sure it comes before the guestbook in the plugins configuration, but apart from that I have no idea why it might not be working?

I'm making the site for a friend - http://www.jempa.net - the page I want as the front is Om Jempa (the site is in swedish).

Not qutie finished with the styling yet etc, and very little testing in IE so things could look a little weird if your looking:) If you have a problem with the a:focus a:active I wouldnt mind knowing that also as I was getting some really weird behaviour with this.

Any help much appreciated.

Are you using the plugin version 3.36? And which language you have selected for your static page? Have you realy select only one page as startpage?

Hi!

It could be that other event plugins are preventing the execution of the "frontpage" staticpage. Which ones do you have installed?

You must also make sure that no other static pages are set as a frontpage?

Well, I found my problem... feel a bit foolish... I simply moved Static Pages to the very first position in the Event Plugin list and it worked, I assumed that if it just came befor the Guesbook it would work.

FYI:

I have version 3.35, language set is Swedish.

Other Event plugins are:

Markup Serendipity, Emoticate and NL2BR
Spam Protector
Spartacus
Contact Form
Link List
Guestbook
Statistics
User Gallery
Extended Properties for entries

Thanks for the rapid feedback, your questions about plugins made me think about plugins being the problem and helped me find the problem.

Hi!

That's great to hear! Yes, since the guestbook plugin also modify the internal URL variables of serendipity, the plugin after that one would not be able to detect if the startpage is displayed. So you fixed it properly.
