Beta version problems with the site

Hello, I updated my site with the beta version:
Serendipity 1.1-beta1 ZIP- August 14th, 200

However after I did that my archives map is empty and if I click on a article it says he can't find the file, Also my lay-out white totally wite

I'd say either your .htaccess went missing, or you changed the "URL rewriting" method?
