Be Nice: 3 column version?

Post by hgoor »

Hi,

I like the Be Nice theme a lot, but I happen to use 3 column style on my Blog.

Is there any chance of this theme coming available in a 3 column version with a width of 1024?

I wish i had more knowlegde of doing this myself, but I have no programming or HTML skills (or have time to learn them) :(

Ah! Right, It's a design from Gigadesign that has been ported to Serendipity by Carl Galloway. http://www.gigadesign.be/be-nice/

Unfortunately I can not get to his site (http://www.carlgalloway.com/)

My site is backup again. Turns out our host lost our credit card details when they upgraded their software. Anyway, be nice doesn't come as a three column version and considering the width of that template it might be difficult to fit the design into 3 columns without also adjusting the background images and playing with the stylesheet. Personally I'm too busy to do this at the moment, but if you make the changes I'll be happy to incorporate them back into the original design.

Cheers

Ah, I understand.

Believe me: if I was capable of doing this I would have done it :-)

If I could I would not have to ask if there was going to be a 3 column theme.

As far as width: so many people I know know have 15" or 17" LCD or work on laptops. I would not mind seeing or using anything that is bigger than 1024 or 1152...

The same goes for your smallbiz01 theme: it looked like it was 3 column, but it isn't and that's a pitty because I really like the cleanness of it...

I've had quite a few comments about the smallbiz design and I will be converting that to 3 column. Originally I thought the two column approach would work better, but... It is the next project I want to work on after I've wrapped up the changes I'm making to the default theme (tableless design, and 1.1 configurator), yellowled and I are pretty much nearly complete on that and just need to fully troubleshoot it and document it, then we'll send it to Garvin for his opinion. After that I'm free to work on smallbiz template. If you have any other suggestions for it, please let me know.

Sorry about be nice, but being a ported design I didn't really want to change it too much. If people still want 3 column in about a month or so then I might work on it.

Cheers

Oh, I understand: you can't do everything and please everyone: no worries.

Good news that you actually are doing the smallbiz theme.

It is clear, readable and looks clean. The static menu is a bit redundant in the sense that you now can use a HTML-nugget that basically does the same. But off course you would miss the subtle mouse-over effect and such...

On the other hand: I never fully understood how the static pages plugin actually work? Is there any documentation on it?

I'd say after that you're free to get some vacation :)
