Garvin,
I was reading my other favorite forum over at www.techreport.com and I find this post. IDENTICAL to one he posted here. Odd. So I got curious. I googled "dev_tej_kohli", and I find tons of the exact same postings all over. And there are more! Check Page 2 of the google search and beyond!

I am wondering if this is some sort of bot test. Maybe some developer is testing a spam bot? Looks very suspicious, especially since "he" registered very recently at many of these forums and has not posted since. He also has "dev" in the name. Hmmmm.

Hi there, my name is David, I use the nickname 'HotWireD'.

Just joined because I found this thread whilst investigaing this "dev_tej_kohli" - like the genius folk on this site.

A google of his 'introduction' currently gives about 65 000 hits. Most of these 'hits' are for his introduction to forums.

Further investigation led to this site...

What is a Pay Per Click Search Engine?

A Pay Per Click (PPC) search engine is a search engine that allows a person to bid an amount of money on related keywords so their site is ranked according to the amount bid.

Basically, if you bid $0.25 on the keyword “book” and that is the highest bid on that particular keyword, your site would be #1 in those results. If your competition bids $0.26, they will become #1 and your site will be #2.

The Pay Per Click industry is relatively new and there are new Pay Per Click search engines popping up to get a piece of the action. Some are good, some aren’t. We’ll show you the ones that will pay off immediately.

This must be a bot of sorts, but imagine how many emails have had to replied to to 'activate' the accounts!

I would think that this person is attempting to push his name up google and other search engines.

I have browsed your site and will be contributing, when I can, to the threads - I am not a bot myself :)

I find forums fascinating and a great way to find out about new topics and what people's opinions are.

See you all around I hope. Thanks for posting this thread, it puts my mind at ease - you pointed out that he was a bot (I did not know much about bots and was amazed at how many forums he had joined - thought he was a forum junky).
can I fill this bit in later?

Hi hotwirde!

Thanks a lot for your input! I'll keep this thread open for future discussion and letting people know about these things, and of course keep an eye on tej :)

Have fun,
Garvin

Can you move this topic to "Gerneral discussions"? I think here in "Bugs" is the wrong place for that.
