Here's a very verbose experimental patch that might give me more clues on what's going on. Could you temporarily use that plugin and tell me what kind of output you get?
This would help me a lot to spot the troublemaker.
Thanks for bearing with me. It's all for the good. *g*

Oh, wow. That is really strange, this "each..." output is something I have never seen before.
Which Firefox extensions are you using? Could you paste the HTML sourcecode of the "Edit Entry" panel here or on a service like nopaste? I am thinking that maybe some extension or proxy is tinkering with the javascript output on your server or client...

Ok, well, the thing is: I have the same in IE and that doesn't use extensions...
You are using the autosave plugin, I think this is interfering. Could you temporarily remove that plugin to see if it works without? IF you I will need to talk to the creator of that plugin to check out what's the issue.

I think the problem is that both scripts use "tag" for their own variable. I have just committed a fix to the freetag plugin and replace all "tag" variables with "freetag", and "tags" with "freetags".
Best regards and thanks to much for helping in solving the issue!

Why does lowercase tag? Sorry, I am bad at reading/writing english.
I got a problem. My categories have some uppercases. Then, it's difference among from uppercase to lowercase tags.
I need some brachylogy, thx!
Forgive me for my poor english.
