trackbacks for forums

i have this idea about trackbacks, that will work in forums posts. so just like normal trackbacks when people refer to your blog, but instead of another blog, it's in a forums post. would this be possible? will it be easy to do? thanks

This would require the blog software to have a trackback functionality. Great idea. The most easy way to have this would be to write a general purpose class for trackbacking, put that into a common framework like PEAR and tell the forum authors around the world that people demand for that and that there is an easy to use class available providing the needed functionality.
