author bios

I client of mine would like to add author bio text to the top of the pages that just show the author link. Is there any way to get at author name in that page?

I was able to add an author image by monkeying with the entries.tpl and doing a filter on $entries.author. But I couldn't find if there was a handle to the authorname in index.tpl.

Any help?

You can install the "userprofiles" plugin, which allows you to make public author profiles!
