Feature Request: Auto entry creation for daily photo

Post by vikram_khatri »

I know that this request might not serve the general purpose. But I need this for a particular need. I am using Serendipity for a temple. I was so impressed by be-happy template that I used it for the main website http://www.newgoloka.com. Please do not be offended and if you believe in respect for all world religions, you may help me here.

This temple uploads pictures of deities on daily basis so that people can see the images through internet. What we need is a way to automate the picture upload with creation of entries for serendipity blog so that they are tied to the serendipity calendar and people can look for images if they want to download a particular one. Currently, if you look at this site, it is a manual process (http://www.newgoloka.com/darshan.htm) of creating static pages and my intention is to use it through serendipity in an automated fashion so that the only thing people need to do is to upload the photo and entries are created automatically.

I know that you might not be able to do it for me but if you give me some high level directions, I might be able to code it myself and contribute it back to this wonderful community of serendipity. I am a java and .net programmer but I will learn PHP to do it myself. I am looking for directions as how to do it.

I looked at other open source blogs but somehow I liked this one much more than others due to its richness and simplicity.

Before posting this, I went through long discussions on photo gallary but I did not find what I am looking for.

Thanks for your help.

Hi!

I believe this can be done with a plugin quite well. There are a bunch of plugins that go into this direction: The serendipity_event_photoblog being most related to it. You might want to check that out?

Also what would come near to what you want is the "quickblog" feature of the plugin "Extended Options for the Image/Media selector / ImageSelector Plus" (don'T know the exact name). There you can immediately upload a picture that will be posted into a formal serendipity entry.
