This is a new post but it is still about how I can disallow the engines from crawling through posts that I do want crawled.
Can I change the name of the way the URL's are created? For instance could I change this:
http://www.bernsteinmedical.com/blog/in ... 05/04.html
to this:
http://www.bernsteinmedical.com/blog/ar ... 05/04.html
In order to disallow the 2005 directory?

Yes, you could try that. In fact it's a nice idea to ban bots from specific directories.
Your server needs either Apache Errorhandling or mod_rewrite to work. Just try to set "URL Rewriting" to one of these options in your serendipity configuration. If it does not work, you might need to delete your .htaccess file to be able to re-enter the s9y admin interface.
