Sidebar block? and Static pages problem

Post by §horty »

Hello, first of all I would like to point out how awesome I think this whole blog system is! Real great work.
But I got two problems with my one here. I installed the static pages plugin alongside with the guestbook and the gallery! To display them all I added the navigtion for the static pages. But now I can not see my created static pages in the navigation! There are only the guestbook and the gallery as well as the frontpage link!! I tried deleting and reentering the static pages but they won't become visible there.
I hope you can help me with this issue!!

Furhtermore I wanted to ask wheter it is possible to create a block in the sidebar! Basicly I just want to have two separate pictures (logos) in the sidebar working as links to subsections of the page. Is it possible to do something like this?

Well, new to this and already so many questions. hehe
Well, is it also possible to have the static pages be in multiple languages as well as it is possible via the multilingual plugin for articles?

An last one: is there a plugin or a way to have a script run in the sidebar that shows the number of visitors. A counter! I think of one that says something like: 2 people on at the moment, 7 were on today and 299 total!

I hope you can help me! THat would be awesome!
all the best
alex

p.s.: I am pretty new to this stuff and I ain't the greatest script writer so I might not understand everything you post! we'll see

1) have you set the static pages to draft or to published?
2) you can use the html-nugget to place links and pictures and text and whatever into the sidebar

And third but not least, Serendipity 1.0-beta2 has a statistics sidebar plugin. :)

alright! so far so good! I can see my blog getting somewhere

Two other things I would like to ask you about!
How can I deactivate the whole comment and trackback function?

And secondly it is kind of important to me to be able to display my page in two different languages! Is it therefore possible to even have the Navigation links like "Gallery Display" or "Guestbook" as well as all the others added by me later be displayed in another language when I switch? This is also important for the static pages!

So my three questions:
- deactivate comments and trackback
- multilingual in static pages
- multilingual in menu options

it would be great if you could help me out once again!

thanks
alex

ahem what about using this plugin:

Language-Specific HTML Nugget - Shows an HTML nugget on the sidebar, for a specific language ??

To disable all comment/trackback functions edit the entries.tpl of your template and delete all the specific code. (if your template has no entries.tpl copy that one from the default folder and edit it)
This sounds harder than it is. Look at the code and you´ll find the right code. Just use the trial-and-error-way. I did it this way and I was sucessful.

Ok folks, it looks awesome so far!
Just one thing left at the moment which I am troubled with. How can I apply the multilanguage plugin to static pages?

I know that I could add just a German and an English static page and then just change the link direction in the language based html nugget but this won't work if I apply the choose language button on the sidebar!

Does anyone have a solution?

all the best

I am also in dire need of a solution for "multilingual static pages". Right now, when you click another lang. in the drop down menu, it only changes the API lang., but not the content of the static page...which is what's needed.

No, sorry, I don't speak German, so I can't follow the other thread. 8)

Okay, i hope i can answere this question.

You are writing a page and select the language you writing for. Through the installation from staticpages must be the language choser installed to. If not, install it. If the page is set to published and you chose the language the page must be shown. If not, so you have found a bug :-).

The feature was not testet by others or i have no feedback. There are many things that be can wrong. Please give me reports and database dumps that i can fix errors. And sorry for my english :-)
