Extremely high number of hits...

Post by Solace »

So far, my most-visited entry was at 51 hits. But this entry I posted yesterday has received 1,045 hits in one day. I'm a little confused. None of the Top Referrers and Top Exits numbers have gone up at all, so it's not like they're coming from somewhere I linked to, or even clicking on anything when they get to my site. Apparently, they're all just looking for this one post on my site. I'm confused! My site is http://www.seekingsolace.net/ if you want to check it out. The post is titled "I hear fajitas sizzling everywhere...".

Thanks guys.

The easist would be to check your access log and check if there were really that lot visits to the page. Then you could manually check the 'serendipity_karma' table and look for the entry id and see if there are really 1045 hits in there.

There may be some search engine gone wild on your page, so the accesslog would give a hint for that the fastest way.

BTW: You got a lovely blog, it looks really nice (especially the header!)

Odd!

Apparently, I did get 2,000 hits or so on that day, but still...where the heck did they all come from?! And thanks for the compliment, glad you like it.

It could be that some forum linked to you, and they used a referrer filter? So your referrer list wouldn't show those referrers, when they are cleaned out when redirecting.

Some forums do such referrer cleaning to not dispose the origin of their visitors...
