Sorry if this is a simple question...

If I wanted to add say a GOB icon with link to my blog, what is the best way to go about adding it?

Globe of Blogs (http://www.globeofblogs.com/). I was wanting to add one of their images to my blog.

I am guessing I have to edit the template?

Nope, its easier than that, much much easier.

In the admin suite, add the HTML nugget sidebar plugin, copy the code you need into that, and click the 'no' radio button where it says apply markup transformations. Voila, it is done.
