Can someone explain what exactly "Autodetect used HTTP-Host " does ? Please?

If enabled, whatever HTTP hostname you use to enter your blog will be used as the canonical hostname of your blog.
Let's say you have the domains 'mydomain', 'www.mydomain' and 'blog.mydomain' and you want that your blog is visible on all three domains. Usually s9y only allows you to configure a single URL, and if people then entered your blog via any domain name, they would get links to the configured URL.
IF HTTP Hostname autodetection is enabled, the hostname used by people will be used as your serendipity base URL.
This is especially important if you want to be able to receive trackbacks to all valid domains instead of just the configured domain, and if you want all javascripts to work accross domain boundaries.

Thank you Garvin,
I just turned it on and my localhost dev site seems quicker to access. I use Mac OS X 10.4 and for whatever reason Safari would take a very long time to access pages off my localhost server so I used Camino or Firefox which were quicker.
But now they all appear to work much better.
