'Comments' is not taking comments.

Post by DragonFly »

I've tried three times to leave a comment on a couple of different posts, but they don't register.

This is what I get instead.
This blog is in "Emergency Comment Blockage Mode", please come back another time
Your comment could not be added, because comments for this entry have either been disabled, you entered invalid data, or your comment was caught by anti-spam measurements.
I've checked my settings and it appears that everything is set up to receive comments.

This does not bode well with my just got it launched yesterday blog.
What to do? :(

Please check the configuratin of your "spamblock" plugin. There you've enabled the emergency block.

Check your "Spam Protector" plugin. At the top is "Emergency comment shutdown". Switch it to "No".

Keep the easy ones comin'! 8)

EDIT: Hi, Garvin! I'm going to work now, so I'll stop stomping your comments...

Located problem with No Comment issue.

Post by DragonFly »

I disable the 'Emergency comment shutdown' in the 'Spam Protector' plugin, and that did the trick.

I originally enabled it thinking that it would only function once a spam attack occurred, I didn't realize that it was a manual operation.

Sorry. Another amateur faux pas.

Making other pages with same css.

Post by DragonFly »

Ok, I'm on a roll with the self-embarrassment theme, so I might as well go with it.

Elemental ignorance:

I want to create other pages outside of my 'index', and I want them to have the same CSS attributes.

How do I accomplish this.

In the past, I simply created another blog account at 'Blogger.com', dropped content in, and then linked to it from my 'index'.
Besides handing you your choice of templates, they also place your pages in directories for you.
There is very little effort involved, but then there is very little control as well.
There setup is 'twit' friendly.

Having said all that, I'm weening myself from them altogether because I'm totally hooked on 'Serendipity' now. (I still have a couple of links to an account there).

I know how to create a link to a page, I just don't understand how to create a seperate page within my CSS theme.

Could you please give me guidance. :)

The easiest way for this is to use the "Static page" Event and Sidebar Plugins. :-)

There you can create additional pages, that you can link to, and which are embedded in your usual blog style.

My machine doesn't utilized Spartacus

Post by DragonFly »

use the "Static page" Event and Sidebar Plugins
That's what I was afraid of. I don't know if you recall, but I recently had an issue with the 'user addon' feature because I'm unable to utilize Spartacus on my machine. I've also tried on my other computer, and I had the same problem.
I've already checked with my ISP to determine whether they were the problem. Not so - according to them.

You very kindly provided me with the files for the other plugin in the past, could you do that for me again with this?
Or even a link from which I can download them?

Sure wish Spartacus worked for me. :(

Sure, if you'd thrown a look at our "plugin" page on the www.s9y.org wiki, you could see this link:

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... taticpage/

:-)

If you set your spartacus mirrors both to Netmirror.org and it still does not work, I must really assume that your provider is blocking HTTP requests, as there is no toehr logical explanation.

Have fun! :-))

I'm interested in your Spartacus problem. If you set up a temporary admin account and PM me the details, I'll verify your Spartacus problem.

Static page messing with my site.

Post by DragonFly »

Judebert,

I will be happy to address the 'Spartacus' issue with you, however at the moment, I have a more immediate problem.

I went ahead and uploaded the 'event_staticpage' files to my plugin directory, then I loaded the plugin to my event lineup.

I went to 'static pages' in the side column and played with it for a little while.

Now I have a problem with the index load. It used to load nicely on it's forward from the original index to the cblog index, all without 'cblog' showing in the address bar.

Now when you load just www.politicallyoutspoken.com, it does not show the last article that was posted. (Cindy Sheehan and Beverly Young Removed By Police)
It doesn't even show (1) after the author (RB). Although, if you click on (RB), it will take you to his one article and it will then show up on the frontpage as well with (1) after his initials.
But at this point, one notices that /cblog has crept back into the address bar.

I called aplus.net and the tech determined that it was a static page issue.

I removed the plugin from my plugin lineup and deleted the pages that I had started to work on, but the problem continues.

I'm  over this.

Is there some place in the 'file manager' where the culprit static page might be hanging out?

The forwarding issue is now fixed! Yea!!

Post by DragonFly »

After completely deleting the staticpage plugin from my directory, plus any page that I could find that was created by it, the problem persisted.

Suspecting that the 'forward' had been knocked out along the way, I called aplus.net and learned that I was right ... for a change.

The tech reentered the forward and now my site is back in the swing.

Much relief here.:D

Anyway, Judebert, back to your kind offer to help validate Spartacus...
I'll gladly create a temp admin account as soon as I figure out how to do that.

If you can find a moment to give me a quick tutorial on that topic, I will get right to work.

As always, much gratitude to the team here.
