Quirks in entries

Post by brody3 »

I suspect the solution is fairly straight-foward, but I am at a loss. My blog is showing "No entries to print". It works fine if I go through the control panel and view. I can use the same browser type to get the blog from the outside but only if I click on the title/blog link again. If I log out of the admin area the blog it seems to lock everything down again.

It has the same quirk whether in English or Spanish.

Can it be that you configured the READ permissions of your categories/entries so that not everyone is able to read entries?

Quirks

Post by brody3 »

The settings are set to the default for rw throughout my server architecture. It was my understanding that the user controls in the admin area were for editors (e.g., blog entries) not for comments or viewing. I googled "no entries to print" and there are thousands of examples of similar instances throughout. There must be something fundamental that I am overlooking. Thanks.

Quirk oops Operator Error

Post by brody3 »

You were right. However, it needs to be clearer that when you create a category each of those needs to be specifically and individually marked as to who can read/write to the category. I do not recall this being queried when I created the categories. From the large number of other sites displaying the same issue, I think the default should at least be read permissions on the category entries for everyone.

The default for creating new categories is "Read/Write for everyone". This was introduced in serendipity 0.9, so if you upgraded you might not have seen that in the old category creation screen...
