Ability to add more than one category tree totally independe

Post by MySchizoBuddy »

IS this possible to do with out using the subcategory thingy

Car Manufacturer
--Toyota
--Nissan
--Mercedes

Trade Shows
--NAAIS
--Denver

Countries
--US
--UK

I can do that with Subcatgory but then the categories are not independent. I want their own headings, ability to minimize or hide etc.

Basically Ability to add more than one category tree totally independent. All with their own titles.

You can use the s9y 0.9 category sidebar plugin, and install 3 sidebar plugins, where each of them starts from a different category node set (you can configure the start category in the plugin).

Second option is to use Smarty templating, since 0.9 you can use smarty the plugin_category.tpl file and then check which one of the 3 sidebars is running in your smarty code to differently print out the sidebar...

OK problem is that when i install a new category plugin and select Regional as the parent category, then it should only show it childs. right now it shows the parent and the childs.
plus how do i get rid of regional category from the main one.

I just committed a new config switch for this to 1.0-alpha1 trunk.

I don't understand? Where are they duplicated? Did you upgarde to latest nightly and set the config option "Hide parents"?

I don't think that's possible. You should restructurize your menu then, make a "Main Category" Category where you put all categories, then you don't need a plugin to show all categories but only a plugin to show the categories of "Main Category".
