Hi, I've just upgraded to 0.9.1 from a 0.8.x version and I'm having terrible trouble trying to install or upgrade plugins.
The installation process starts, but seems to randomly time out and just stop in the middle when downloading the files from the server. When this happens the Serendipity installation is then broken and has to be restored from a backup.
The timeouts occur at random places in the process and seem more likely with bigger plugins. I've made several attempts at upgrading my version of the static page plugin but I've still not been able to get this to go all the way to the end after about 10 failures/restores.
Thanks,
Emmental.

Re: Plugin installations failing - downloads timing out
The automatic plugin update uses the server infrastructure of Sourceforge.net, which might be unstable at times. Sadly there's not so much we can do about it, but we are trying to find a way for offering file mirrors.
In case of a download problem, I suggest to download the files manually. You can do so by using a CVS client and connecting to the repository (see http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=75065), or by browsing the CVS repository via the SF.Net page (see http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... l_plugins/) or by downloading the full plugin bundle (see http://www.netmirror.org/mirror/serendi ... lugins.tgz).
In either way, re-installing Serendipity should not be needed. If all fails, you can delete the downloaded plugin files, or use a tool like phpMyAdmin to remove the failed plugin from the "serendipity_plugins" DB table...

Thanks for the reply, Garvin. I'll give that a go instead.
Edit: I downloaded the plugin bundle and that worked great.
Thanks,
Emmental.
