help with time zone time offset.

Post by karia »

i did a search and i found that the general answer to these types of questions goes something like this.
garvinhicking wrote:In Serendipity 0.8 we have introduced a 'server offset time' configuration variable

You can set the timezone difference there.
however, i have tried this, a number of times with a number of different offsets and it still doesnt work.

when i change the offset in the admin setting and i save and go to new post, the time remains unchanged. when i change the time on the post i have to wait 3 hours for post to show up and when it does its the time is still off.

for example not its noonplus 21minutes in my time zone, my changed the admin setting to plus 3. it says 9 am. fine i change it to plus 6 still says nine am. +9, 12 18 still says 9am.

if i go to post, it will say 9am if change the time on the post to noon. it will post at 3pm and say it posted at noon.

what am i doing wrong?

Did you always enter the "+" for the time? Maybe you can omit the "+" and just enter "6".

The feature works like this: If the local server time reports it is now "Mon, 12:00" and you set the offset to "3", your server will tell you it's "Mon, 15:00". If you've changed the timezone, just click on "New Entry" and you should see the new timestamp inserted for the time. Adjusting the timezone setting should not have an effect on old entries, I think (but I am not 100% sure on the last statement, I am myself not using the timezone setting)

Best regards,
Garvin
