I was struggling getting any feed across either on import or the plugin to my web-blog. As only one person on the forum had this problem (Error 126 - cannot open file on Onyx) - I pondered on the idea that maybe it was not the software but my host.
Anyhow, to make sure, i downloaded and installed on the server IFeeder which basically brings in a feed and displays it on a web page, no matter what feed i put in I got a error that it could not bring in the feed.
So armed with this information I emailed the host and they basically said that the firewall there end would have stopped incomming traffic, they happily though added the host I was trying to feed from to the firewall which allowed me to test. Now I tested again in this PHP app and the blog fed through no problem, so def 100% a Host issue there.
Now that i knew i could get the feed in no problem, i tried the said plugin which is supposted to i gather display the RSS Feed by Headings on the sidebar. Now it come up with the name I added but no heading or anything (www.liquidsilver.co.uk/blog) - the one i tried to add was called MadDeva, you can see the heading but nothing there.
My Question is then, has anybody got this feature working where it displays the last 5 headings, has anybody come up with a better way as i would like to display the heading and some of the text say because the person who does this webblog does not always have a heading.
I was considering instead to try a different appraoch to be honest as this rss feed inside the blog does not seem to do the job, i thought maybe it would be easier to display the RSS Feed on my homepage somewhere using another PHP Script.... so anybody got it working and care to enlighten us?
RSS Feeds - My Findings
Forgot that, i just tried a different feed (one with Headings) and it worked 100% as it should - so what we have learned is this:
RSS Feeds - If your not importing / plugin then check with your Hosting, they may well have a firewall. Is it not possible to specify a Proxy, i read something about this?
If Feed does not have a heading (blog for example) then it will import no problems but will not come up on the Plugin on the side bar.
K hopefully that has helped a few people..
