Upgrading- Can't run shell scripts with host

I want to upgrade but can't because our host doesn't allow shell scripts. Is there an alternative way to upgrade?

Upgrading Serendipity does not require any shell script. The upgrade.sh script is outdated, the only good it does is to perform a backup before.

Upgrading Serendipity consists of:

1. Upload the new release to your directory
2. Open your Blog URL
3. Hit the button "Yes, please do so" when you are asked if you want to upgrade.
