I just installed V 0,8.4.
PHP 5.0.3; MYSQL 4.1.9; Apache 2.0.53
I planned on making this a private message board for my family
I have access password checked at the apache level know only by family member.
I wanted to give each member editor rights to this blog.
I added two family member with the "Manage Users" feature but when I go to add more members the page won't finnish loading. I have to hit the stop button to halt the load. This leaves me without the ability to post the new user, becuse the save button gets dropped when I have to abort the loading process.
I hope there's someone that can explain to me what the problem is
thank you
Well no ones come up with a solution so I tried some stuff myself
I used phpMyAdmin to open the database
I added a user with the expection of not entering a password
I then tried "manager user" in serendipity and it worked... it showed the new user
I then edited it and added a password
Next I tired to add a new user with serendipity ( the heart of my problems)
It worked ! ! I Serendipity is now allowing me to add a user. So it was something or is something to do with Serendipities ability to connect to the database.
Again it be nice to get some feed back from the developers
Manage Users: limits me to adding just 2 users(fixed)

Re: Manage Users: limits me to adding just 2 users(fixed)
To me this sounds like connection problems. My guess is that they appeared sporadic, and it would've worked again even when doing nothing.
In turn this means you might face similar problems again. In that case have a talk with your providers, ask for crashing/segfaulting MySQL/PHP/apache children and ask him to have a look at the server logs ...

Garvin

I'm my own provider.
I've looked at my /usr/local/var/localhost.log
I'm relativly new at using the mysql server. This localhost.log I think is now being shared by both serendipity blogs that I'm running. This localhost.log seems to be recording every event that uses the database, making it hard for me to see find the recording of this problem.
Every user I've added since "fixing" it has access and it seems I can add more users without a problem. I will keep your warning in mind.
At this stage I'm testing this blog engine to see if it's one that I can rely on. It seems pretty solid so far.
thank you

Okay, just keep us posted. If you get the errors again, I'll try to assist you in finding the cause for it. It must not necessarily be caused by MySQL, but can be caused by PHP or your webserver.
