Securing my blog

Post by DortoH »

Well I was running 0.7.1 until about 5 mintues ago. Funny thing I had this planned for tonight all week and about 30 minutes before I started, someone hacked the site :P

They just edited index.php, erased the contents and replaced with the standard Ha Ha!

Now my directory permissions are 755 on the Serendipity folder. I am now on Serendipity 0.8.3 and PHP 4.3.10. I have also deleted the serendipity_XML RPC.php file.

What else can/should I do. FTP and blog passwords have also been changed although I change them regularily.

I would change your MySQL userdata/passwords as well. Also look at all the applications you were running on the host and check if files got modified. You should change every single password for every single application/service you had access to on that server.
