hello.
sometimes you can find a link under an entry where you can go to the rest of the article. mostly it is when the article is very long.

Yes the author can split the article into 2 sections, only the first section is shown on any overview page. If you want to read the full article you have to click on it.
So you can write only a headline or a summary or just the beginning and if you think the entry is too long, just split it.
It is also possible (for VERY long entries) to split them up in several subpages.

Yes, the plugin "Split long entries" (serendipity_event_entrysplit, (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... ntrysplit/) is needed, which you can also fetch via the Spartacus plugin.
With this plugin you can use special tags to denote a subpage split (liek put "<!--newpage-->" in it, or you can also use automatic splitting after a certain amount of characters.
Regards,
Garvin

It´s very simple! If you write an entry you´ll see two different areas "Entry Body" and "Extended body". If you write anything in the "extended body" this wont be shown on the overview page, only if you click on "Continue reading" the entry.
If you want to split entries in seperate subpages you need the "split long entries" plugin. Easiest way to install it is via Spartacus.
edit: oh Garvin was faster than me

Ok there are two ways of installing new plugins.
a) you can manually upload the files. those files are stored in the cvs repository. you can find it here
once you uploaded them go to the "Configure Plugins" menu and click on "click here to install a new sidebar [or event] plugin" and a list of all plugins that are installed on your server will show up. just choose the plugin you want to install. thats all.
b) you can use Spartacus. Spartacus allows you to install all plugins directly from your blog, without having to upload those files manually. Its a fast and easy way. I highly recommend it if you want it quick and easy.
if you want to use it go to the configure plugins menu, choose to install a new event plugin and choose spartacus from the list.
after installing Spartacus a new options will appear in the menu that allow you to install plugins directly from the internet.

ok.
maybe I have an older version (Serendipity v.0.7.1)
I could not find the Spartacus PlugIn in the list.
anyway, I tried to install the serendipity_event_entrysplit.php and when I tried to write a new article there comes an error like this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method serendipity_event_entrysplit::getFieldReference() in /home/htdocs/web7/html/serendipity/plugins/serendipity_event_entrysplit/serendipity_event_entrysplit.php on line 94
anybody out here who can give me a tip?
thanks leo

Yes. Upgrade Serendipity as soon as you can. 0.7.1 is out of date, also security-wise.
Today 0.8.3 will be released, you should wait for that.
The plugins only work with 0.8, Spartacus also only works with 0.8
Regards,
Garvin
