serendipity_config_local.inc.php -exiting: HIT REFRESH!!

Post by charlesrkiss »

Hello,

Serendipity is awesome.

But sometimes when I go to my blog, or to a single blog entry, I get a blank page with the following text:

serendipity error: could not include /services/webpages/k/i/kissbrothers.com/charles/public//serendipity_config_local.inc.php - exiting.
Please create the file yourself or check permissions

But if I hit the refresh button, only once, or several times rapidly (depending on what number and speeds are required), the proper page will eventually load.

Is this the fault of my host, or some timing issue I could correct? I haven't checked files and their permissions because I assume the page would NOT LOAD EVER if it were due to permissions.

Thanks

Charles

SOLVED: BUT UNSOLVED

Things are back to normal but...

Okay, I'm not sure why the REFRESH button worked, because it's possible even the password was wrong! I'm really confused now.

What resolved the issue was a radio button that appeared (which I can no longer find). The page containing the radio button was in the font and style of the Serendipity Theme -which was "codeschmiede", so maybe it's part of the theme code. It gave me a choice between http or https...for something, I don't recall... I guess, maybe, a login to the admin
path, I don't know. But switching it to http resolved the issue. But has it exposed another??

Does anyone know where that https:http radio button resides? I can't find it anywhere in the "Serendipity Administration Suite"

I was experimenting with themes while I was doing all this, changing themes back and forth.

Okay, MAYBE my password was stored on my local computer, and that's what got me in with the multiple refresh sets, but I thought I logged in with the WRONG password! I was certainly under the impression of a wrong password since I tried logging in afterwords, on a different computer, and was shocked having to look up the actual password which was COMPLETELY different than expected.

Anyway, that's all.

Thanks

Found the Radio Button:

Sorry for posting this without doing sufficient research!!

It's part of the Blog Administration (serendipity_superuser_plugin), and it "Provides a link in the sidebar to your blog administration".

Apparently, this needs support from my web host; maybe I'll look into this more.

Apparently, it was set to https; I was having difficulty even VIEWING separate entries without the error and multiple resets, then, somehow, I managed to mess around with themes... I could have been automatically logged in, but I actually doubt it since it's been so long since I did any admin on the site....

Oh well, forum, thanks for being here.
