How to limit user to only post comments?

I am using S9Y version 1.5.4 and cannot figure out how to limit a user to only post comments on existing entries from another author. The user has access to upload images and create entries regardless of which group I put them in. Basically, I want the blog to have one author to post entries and the rest of the users post comments only. I cannot have anonymous comments on my blog.

The technical and user documentation does not describe this..

I am also using the LDAP plugin to create new users.. Does this affect user restrictions?

Hi!

You can edit that user's preferences (user management) and check the option "Forbid creating entries". Also, you can create a seperate user group (group management) that you call "Commenting people" and give them no privileges, and then assign that user to that group.

The LDAP plugin could interfere here, though. It bypasses the normal user management...I can't currently tell if it works, but you could try the suggestion first.
