install a new event plugin returns DNS error

Post by gwilsonmail »

My site is installed and i have added sidebar plugins successfully.

When I went to click on the "install new event plugin" the page doesn't load and i get a DNS error, even though the URL in the address bar is very similar to the sidebar plugin URL.

This URL work - http://harrypotter.gizmocha.com/serendi ... on]=addnew

This URL gets DNS error - http://harrypotter.gizmocha.com/serendi ... ype]=event

The rest of the site appears to function correctly.

My installation is 0.8.2 with a large collection of plugins (additional_plugins.tgz) copied into the plugins directory prior to installation.

If you are not logged in they BOTH take you to the login screen.

if you are logged in the first one works and the second one gets a DNS error.

It's a little hard to demonstrate without giving out the login info :-(

Your server seems to not have sufficient memory to display the large additional_plugins modules.

Raise the memory_limit PHP option to at least 12 MB, if you have access.

You should maybe think about using Spartacus instead to display all plugins as this is not memory consuming.

Thanks for the reply about the memory issue. I had thought that having all the plugins onhand would have been an advantage. Obviously not.

Spartacus is a great tool. I've looked at other blogging tools and haven't come across anything as powerful or as simple to use as this plugin manager.

Great piece of work you have created.

This happened again!
i asked my ISP to up the memeory allocated to php to 12 MB.

Out of interest it had been set to 8MB - which doesn't work if you have many plugins in the /plugins directory.
