Re: Where are blog entry files stored?

UPDATE:

I've discovered that if I select Custom and for Format: "Texy! Text" I get a flat text file.

After that I then removed all of the non-post output.

What remains is to strip-out all of the 'special characters'.

12 views, no suggestions. Is there no way to do this, please?

Where are blog entry files stored?

I'd like to export all of the blog entries I've made, for backup and other usages.

They need to be in a generic .doc type format, or something else non-proprietary.

I've been looking in the various folders on my Bluehost-hosted serendipty instance and cannot find them.

I tried the Export RSS and ...

Re: Any news re. enabling Comments, please?

Thank you for taking the time to share all of that - it helps me to think about the alternatives.

It is important to me that people be able to ask questions so that they actually understand the texts, rather than passively agreeing without truly understanding.

Do I understand, correctly, that the ...

Re: Any news re. enabling Comments, please?

I'm sorry, I shouldn't post when over-tired.

I meant the ability of people to subscribe to a blog, be notified of new posts, and to be able to discuss them.

As I recall we discussed this many months ago, and there was something 'broken' in all of that, but it was a back-burner project without a ...

Any news re. enabling Comments, please?

Is there any reason to hope for Comments being enabled any time in the foreseeable future, please?

If not I'm going to look for a discussion forum, self-hosted or one that I manage but that's hosted on Bluehost, to which I may direct readers of imperfectchristians.net

Thanks.

Re: No New Post Notification Email

I only intend to share the content with those who choose to subscribe (anyone who stumbles on to the content via a Search is welcome to view it). I prefer word-of-mouth referrals vs a wide broadcast - so that I'm not having to manage people looking for an argument.

OK, so it's a matter of filtering ...

Re: No New Post Notification Email

OK, thanks - I thought that I'd disabled them, incoming and outgoing, at the same time.
So, that additional plugin would prevent Serendipity from alerting the source URL that I cited their URL?
Since Trackbacks are discouraged, due to a reported pattern of abuse, wouldn't they have incoming ...

Re: No New Post Notification Email

I just observed something else I hadn't previously noticed ...

When a New Entry is Saved - there are popups that seek and fail to find Trackbacks.

I presume that this showed up now because I just included some quoted text with several embedded URLS, and included an additional URL. I'd not ...

Re: No New Post Notification Email

The theme seems to be doing just what it should - a popup at the top notifying that the email notifications are being sent.
There must already be a trigger - because it causes that popup.
So, capturing that trigger then sending the emails from the subscription file seems to be the only missing piece ...

Re: No New Post Notification Email

Do I correctly presume that this piece of Configuration is embedded in the Theme?
Update notification
Show the update notification in the Dashboard, and for which channel?
(Choices are Stable, Beta, and No) - so, it can be toggled off.
Is it fair to presume that nothing happens if Beta is selected ...

Re: No New Post Notification Email

Understood.
I sure hope someone doesn't just remove the message and abandon the feature.
I wish I had the skills to fix this myself.
Is it possible that code from another open source project could be modified for the purpose, rather than building something from scratch?
Lots of other blogs have ...

Re: No New Post Notification Email

Oh, right. That's a mistake. Why it happened: A dev wanted to implement a subscription feature, but we couldn't agree on the implementation. It seems like the language constant changes were added anyway. I'll open a bug - though maybe this can be used as an occasion to just implement the ...
