After fighting with Dreamhost, and trying to get S9Y running in safe mode, I ended up having to install MovableType. I really didn't want to, but I just needed a blog. If someone knows how to get S9Y working in safe mode, please let me know, but I guess I have to bid farewell to my beloved ...

I am having trouble getting my blog working on my Dreamhost account. I got it for free, so I need to get it working here. I installed S9Y before, but I'm getting errors, regarding open_basedir restrictions. Here is what Dreamhost said:

open_basedir Restrictions in effect, file ...

That's what I had to do. A nice upgrade option like phpbb uses would be great, and easy.

I'm just wondering what trackbacks are, and how you use them? I've seen other blog systems, and they appear to be a place to post comments, but I've never actually seen how they work.

I tried upgrading from a pre-release cvs version of 0.3, and I when I try to run the updater SQL file, I get these errors:

You have an error in your SQL syntax near ''comments'' at line 1
You have an error in your SQL syntax near ''categoryid'' at line 2
You have an error in your SQL syntax ...

Will the final 0.3 release of Serendipity include an upgrade option? I don't want to loose anything, but I would definitely like to keep using the software. An upgrade option like phpbb's would be nice.

I use KungLog to update my blog. It supports Serendipity, but in the latest version, it gives me an XML-RPC error. I e-mailed the creator of KungLog, and he said:

"Looks like they expect parameters for mt.supportedTextFilters, where they should not."

Wow, that was a delayed response I am running what I think is the latest verison, and everything is working fine. One feature request: upgrade install.

How do I make the thumbnail for an entry clickable? I want to be able to see the full picture.

Hello fellow Serendipity users,
I have a few post-install problems. Actually only a couple, sense the plugin manager helped me get rid of the rest.

My first problem is that it doesn't tell who posted the entry. It just reads ...

I guess my installation works. I fixed the title by goign to the admin panel, but I have many more bugs/problems...all of which can be viewed on by blog. The URL is above.

I fixed it! Almost. It works now, I can actually view my blog. It appears to have a couple small bugs in it though. Please check it out:

It added an extra / in the title of the blog, and there appears to be a php call or something in the lower right. Any ideas on how to fix ...

I've reinstalled about 20 times to far. I got ImageMagick installed, and I have come to the conclusion that it has something to do with the .htaccess file. I'm looking into that now. The only other thing I haven't looked into is the AllowOverride All thing.

As far as I know, everything looks correct. I never got imagemagick installed correctly, it always gave me errors. I am willing to give you shell access if you can help me set it up. It's on a production machine with 70+ clients, so I'm just being very careful what I install. E-mail me at rbrugman ...
