Well, it looks like the update worked.
Ok, so I'm back to editing files on the latest trunk now, I've got some time in the next couple days to hammer this down, so I should have a somewhat fully working tree pretty soon. I've probably broke some things for the other databases though. Starting with ...

Ok, I got it.

It is clear that many changes have been made since 1.0.1 (not including my changes).

Should I attempt a merge, or should I make my changes manually to the trunk and then do a diff?
What's the best way to produce a solid working latest tree?

Thanks for the coaching...

Ahh..ok
I was trying to do a diff against my current installation, which was a tarball from the main (not svn) download s9y page + my modifications for DB2 over the last many weeks..
So I need to do a checkout, then put my files I've modified in there, then do a diff...
ok...I'll try that..
Thanks...

DB2 Installation

OK, I got "subversion" finally compiled and working. That was a chore. The checkout thing works, so I'm pretty sure it's working ok.

But, how do I do a diff? ANytime I try to use it against my install it keeps complaining
about: Can't open file 'serendipity/.svn/entries
Can i not do a diff against ...

FYI, I'm moving along ok. I'm at a customer site this week, so I won't be doing much this week.
I've written a way to do a limit offset, but the way the query needs to be formatted is going to require some more changes to the other db driver files, else the code gets very messy.
Query needs to go ...

So, help me understand this.
The group by clauses always throw me off.

What is the intedned result set from this query:

SELECT c.categoryid,
c.category_name,
c.category_icon,
c.category_description,
c.authorid,
c.category_left,
c.category_right,
c.parentid,

a.username,
a.realname

Personally I would currently opt for going the 32k way for DB2;

That exactly what I did for now. (Remember the original patch had improved the db abstraction layer to dynmically fill in column types per database during the installation).
I declared varchar(32k) instaed of clob(32k). But I'm ...

So, what is an acceptable limit on entries (lenght of a Blog). from what I can tell, you have not limited the entries, so the database is going to limit it for you dependining on what column type you've declared for it. MySql text datetype is 64k, postrgre says unlimited...etc..
So, what's the ...

You won't lose it. I'll have to compile svn for AIX, which, as most open source software goes on AIX, is usally a chore.

I've spent too much time on it now to toss it away or just leave it on one system. :)
I'll learn SVN, shouldn't be a big problem. It's probably gonna take me a couple weeks to ...

Ok. You might have to help me out with the SVN thing. I've never used such a system.
Is that different than the snapshot builds on http://www.s9y.org/12.html or should I be taking directly from the BerliOS repository?

I used that patch comand to install patches, and make them for a single file, but ...

Great, so I can just remove the single quotes around integers, other databases don't require that? (Sorry, I've only worked with Oracle and DB2) I have just been casing it out, but obviously would be much cleaner to just remove the quotes all together.

I'm thinking about ways to get around the ...

Yeah, your right. It was from the original guy's code which I started out with. Sorry about that.

Anyhow...I got it somewhat working. I can load the main page and make new entries.

I'm afraid to hit any more buttons. Every new link is like 10 things to fix.

Basic things so far are:
- integers ...

Ok, making progress.
Just needed to format the array properly.
Anyhow, then I ran into this line in include/functions_config.inc.php
Line 93
"VALUES ('" . serendipity_db_escape_string($name) . "', ' " .

Notice the space in the last part of the line single quote, space, double quote
Is that supposed ...

Well, my first post, and I already screwed up. I meant to post in the development forum. Guess I wasn't paying attention. Sorry.
