Got this resolved, the hosting admin team had moved the whole dang account to a different server location thus changing our absolute path.

Real nice, would have been great if they would have let us know our account's absolute path was gonna change, geeeez.

Mahalo!

Serendipity cannot write to folder template_c

The blog just quit working all of a sudden and now generates this error message when I try to launch it:

Cannot write to directory /***my domain path***/public_html/serendipity/templates_c. Please check the permissions.

I have checked the permissions on this folder and they are still set at 777 ...

Ahhh, sweet resolution. I was in sync with ya WonkoDSane. After re-install I went into the Personal Settings section again, and looked at what settings I was changing more carefully.

There is a setting called "forbid making entries" which I was checking off as "yes" thinking this was a global ...

Thanks for responding WonkoDsane. I can login OK at url you provided, but the admin panel is still basically blank as previously described - no access to any settings at all.

After the second install I did not touch any settings having to do with access levels or groups at all. Remember, that at ...

Disappearing admin interface

I started this thread over in plug-ins forum mistakenly, very sorry I was not paying attention closely enough when I posted. Maybe admin can move the thread over here?

Here is the previous thread, short as it may be:

restricting user groups

I believe there was one config setting that I changed which was supposed to eliminate multiple user groups, but I didn't think that had anything to do with admin access. Perhaps I was wrong.

At the top of the admin page it says "logged in as administrator" though.

Admin page has no access to settings

Just installed the new serendipity 1.1 clean in new site. Had access at first to all settings in the admin panel. Changed a few settings.

Now all I get is a handful of links on the admin page. What happened to the rest, anybody have a clue?

I have installed this blog in older versions a number of ...

Thanks for the reply Judebert, much appreciated.

I found the problem a little while ago and just had not gotten up here yet to post that it was resolved.

It was file corruption somewhere in those two plugin folders. I deleted them both, then re-uploaded new copies and all was well. I usually ...

plugin load errors

This is a fresh install.

In "Configure Plugins" when "click here to install a new event plugin" is clicked I get a long string of machine output at the top of the page that ends with these two errors:

Error: serendipity_event_bbcode Error: serendipity_event_spartacus

These two event plugins are ...
