Got this resolved, the hosting admin team had moved the whole dang account to a different server location thus changing our absolute path.
Real nice, would have been great if they would have let us know our account's absolute path was gonna change, geeeez.

Serendipity cannot write to folder template_c
The blog just quit working all of a sudden and now generates this error message when I try to launch it:
Cannot write to directory /***my domain path***/public_html/serendipity/templates_c. Please check the permissions.
I have checked the permissions on this folder and they are still set at 777 ...

Disappearing admin interface
I started this thread over in plug-ins forum mistakenly, very sorry I was not paying attention closely enough when I posted. Maybe admin can move the thread over here?

restricting user groups
I believe there was one config setting that I changed which was supposed to eliminate multiple user groups, but I didn't think that had anything to do with admin access. Perhaps I was wrong.
At the top of the admin page it says "logged in as administrator" though.

Admin page has no access to settings
Just installed the new serendipity 1.1 clean in new site. Had access at first to all settings in the admin panel. Changed a few settings.
Now all I get is a handful of links on the admin page. What happened to the rest, anybody have a clue?

This is a fresh install.
