Re: Long entries - Incorrect string value

What's particularly strange is that this hasn't come up before - the UTF has always recognised the Maori macrons. Don't know what exactly to do. Should I copy the language files over from a clean install version?

Re: Long entries - Incorrect string value

Oh, man. I missed two instances of the word Māori . With that word rendered as Maori, the speech saved. So .... ?

Re: Long entries - Incorrect string value

Stripped out the Maori characters and even the ampersand in the title, but still get the error. There's something, apparently, about THIS speech that's causing the problem.

Re: Long entries - Incorrect string value

Sorry, Garvin, I wasn't clear. The error happens in the editing panel. It simply does not update, but rather shows the error message. Here's a _complete_ version, after trying to add a speech (BUT I was just able to add a long entry that did NOT contain special Maori characters, so I bet you're ...

Re: Long entries - Incorrect string value

Really? That would be interesting. My charset selection is UTF-8 in the config panel. The site's at www.davidcarter.co.nz - and the error has only just cropped up. There are many other long entries that have posted without incident - it's a recent thing.

Long entries - Incorrect string value

I'm getting this error message / Incorrect string value: '\xC4\x93n\xC4\x81 ...' for column 'body' at row 1 when I try to post longer articles to one of my sites. I've tried breaking the entries up to no avail. Shorter entries are fine. The error shows the full text of the post and ends with that ...

No comment box after entries

On my two test bed sites, I'm unable to get comment boxes to display. The trackback "link" displays, but visitors aren't able to leave comments.

3h5.co.nz/index.php?/archives/11-National-welcomes-working-relationship-with-Greens.html#extended

is an example. Is this a problem with extended bodies ...

brilliant. I'd deleted the info.txt file - which was why the system recognised the virginal template version.

Thanks, Gavin. I went away and had a drink and thought about it and realised that I had so heavily modified the css and a couple of the tpl pages (plain-vanilla) that the system might not be able to identify the template. So I uploaded to the server a virginal copy of plain-vanilla with Spartacus ...

netmirror/spartacus workaround

For some reason today I can't connect to netmirror. Normally this would not be a problem because I would be able to add themes by dropping packages into the repository and they'd show up on my 'manage styles' menu. But they're not showing up on that menu, even with Spartacus disabled and/or removed ...

you're a genius, thanks! commented out parts of the entries.tpl file, as suggested in the FAQ. still can't figure out how to achieve the same effect with CSS, though - but if I do, I'll post the solution here, for future reference.

Same problem

I've got a user who doesn't want to enable comments, which is fine, but he also does not want the comment fields to show. I've tried your CSS fix but it doesn't work on this template - Plain Vanilla. Any other ideas? I'd really appreciate your help.

Actually, I'm having the exact same problem. I run about 20 Serendipity websites off this server but on a new install I'm having no joy getting past the admin panel. My other Serendipity installs are older versions - might that make a difference?

I am perhaps, then, asking too much of this plugin! I'll just add a static page for each of their profiles and put author links on the sidebar. Thanks for your help, Gavin!

odder

actually, i was wrong. the only gravatar.com-hosted gravatar i can get to display is the basic gravatar icon, not one I've associated with an email address. even then, i need to have both the 'use image' and 'use gravatar' radio buttons marked yes in the setup panel.

By putting an image in my root ...
