Re: New phpBB version installed

Hey guys, sorry for the short downtime we just had - I took the opportunity to upgrade the phpBB version. Let me know if you run into any issues and have a happy 2012!

Re: Not getting forum notice on subscribed topic

Hey guys,

I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by this - the mail delivery function of this board will remain flakey for at least this week - please bear with us.

I will let you know once I fixed the mail delivery :oops:

Cheers,
Jannis.

New phpBB version installed

Hey guys,

just wanted to let you know that I just upgraded the software powering these message boards. It is now running on phpBB3, looks a little different, but should work as good as the old forum. Even better, actually, as it has a lot more features than phpBB2.

Anyways, if something does not ...

Scheduled (but unannounced) downtime

Hi folks,

a ~30 min downtime just ended. It was scheduled (server maintenance/updates), but I did not announce it. Sorry for that, everything should be back to normal now :)

If not, please knock on my head!

not really a domain forward. they just made their domain point to this servers. i reconfigured the server so it won't display the board when you access it using anything but board.s9y.org.

i don't know who registered the domain, it's not affiliated with the s9y project at all.

VB is fantastic Harald - the vast majority of forums I visit run vb. It is not, however, open source. While the money is not a big deal, I personally think it is cool for s9y - an open source project - to support an open source forum project like phpBB.

yeah, well - if VB really is better (both ...

Boards moved to a new server

Just wanted to let everybody know that the s9y forums have changed servers. You should not note any difference except for a little more latency than usual - this will go away once your nameserver has noticed the IP change. Requests to the old IP are forwarded to the new server.

Let me know when ...

hey carl,

the $smarty.server.REQUEST_URI variable does not contain the protocol and hostname, what I am truncating is a string like /daily/plugin/tag/sometag .

And because I only want the single entries and the static pages to be indexed, I had to add this check. Because the $view=="plugin" check ...

i have not yet checked the impacts, but I have updated the code:

{if ($view == "entry" || $view == "plugin") && $smarty.server.REQUEST_URI|truncate:17:"" != "/daily/plugin/tag"}
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow" />
{else}
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow" />
{/if}

Timeouts when posting entries

Hey guys,

Garvin told me that some of you (as in the active ones :D ) have trouble posting messages to this board. So who can second that a lot of times the POST-request just times out when submitting a message?

This hasn't occured to me yet, but then again I'm not as active here as some of you ...
