photos again
I had this happen once before but it stopped on its own? I guess..
When I click on a photo to add it to an article I get an explorer window opening with just the code showing:

editing templates
I am sure there is more info someplace here on editing templates. I am new, so it seems very difficult to make changes as there seems to be several different tempates for main page. Just adding visitor tracking took some searching...
maybe a dumb question, but are there any plans to be able to edit ...

Categories
Thanks Garvin, will see what I can do.
I feel a blog should always show all categories on the startpage; if a user explicitly wanted to only see a certain category, he would do so by himself.
yes, but I seem to always want to go "beyond the blog" for some reason. I don't know if it's a hobby or ...

category specific front page

Placing this as index.php would make main ...

Image popup
I agree 100%. The olny thing I miss about Movable Type is the popup page from a thumb in an article. The page fits the image exactly. I am sure this could be hacked into Serendipity, maybe throw in template editing?

setting localhost gave me errors as well. This is getting to be way too much hassle. Even TWiki was easier, and they recomend even webdesigners not to attemp an install.
Anyways, I successfully installed the latest release, last nights tonights whatever...now folder serendipity3

Wordpress vs serendipity
I have both on my server now (among others). I find WordPress has photo uploader and makes thumbs, but that's it. Had to ftp to server to find thumb was there, and to include it in an article is a hassle, almost all manual.
Serendipity makes it easy, makes thumb and gives code etc. Only Movable Type ...
