I didn't use any special characters (just numbers and letters) and even when I went into the author db and typed in the userid/password listed there, it didn't let me log on. I also tried adding a new user and specifying the user id/password but that one didn't work either ...

I just installed Serendipity today, under a domain hosted by 1and1.com
